This is a shamanic beater-rattle made from red deer rawhide and hazelwood. We made it at the time of the spring equinox. We have placed labradorite crystal chips inside and finished off the handle with a layer of bee’s wax produced from rescued bees and a duck feather.
Our beater-rattles perform two functions, allowing you to beat your drum and play a rattle at the same time, creating a really special sound.
About the making of this rattle
Our rattles are carefully crafted from materials sourced from the UK. The hazel handles are harvested from traditional coppiced woodlands in Lancashire and polished with wax from bees that have been rescued. The hides used to create the rattle heads are from red deer and horses that have roamed British meadows and moorlands. We decorate each rattle with feathers from birds we find out on our walks or lying by the side of roads. Our rabbit fur comes from the southwest of England from rabbits that have been culled through a wildlife conservation programme.
The energy of Red deer
When we encounter the Red Deer in the wild, our breath catches and we are transfixed by their graceful features and delicate movements. We can draw on their energy to give us the power to deal with challenges with grace. As Red Deer holds a real gentleness, we can be sensitive and intuitive was we walk our path. We can also hold onto vigilance and also adaptability, with the ability to change direction quickly should we need to. Just as the deer has an uncanny sense of where to find the green freshness earth provides, we can ask the deer within ourselves to seek out our inner treasures.
All of our rattles come with a “7-day trial period”, to allow you time to hold it in your hands, ensuring that you are right for each other.
