Medium Smudge Fan: Duck

This medium smudge fan is made from a duck wing, is set in cow hide handle and finished with a line of rabbit fur. The rabbit fur is from wild English rabbits which are managed as part of a wildlife conservation program.

Ducks are masters of their environment, and all three of the realms, as they are really comfortable in the water, in the air, and on the land. Duck brings with it the energies of adaptability, resourcefulness, and agility. Despite having short and stubby wings they are one of the fastest fliers of all the birds, and the male’s feathers can be particularly flamboyant in a multitude of colours. The females are particularly resourceful, and indeed devious with the way they choose a mate. Although they can’t stop the males avenging them, they can choose which male they want to fertilize their young.

The making of our fans

We only ever source our feathers and wings ethically, from birds which have died in their natural environment, and never from birds which have been shot.

Our feathers and wings come from birds which have been killed by cars and are lying on the side of the road as we drive past, or from loose feathers and parts of wings we find when we are out and about walking the moors, woodlands or coastline.

The leather we use is from Red Deer in Scotland, or cowhide, and the Rabbit fur is from rabbits which are culled as part of a wildlife management project in England.

Customs

This is a special note for European buyers. As the UK is no longer part of the EU, Value Added Tax (VAT) is added to the cost of this product. This charge is in addition to what you pay here in our shop. You will be asked to pay this via the courier once we have dispatched your parcel. The amount will vary from country to country, so please check before purchasing so you understand what the additional customs charge will be.
