16″ ‘Wolf Moon Eclipse’ Shamanic Drum. Red Deer hide with Carnelian crystal handle

This is a 16 inch shamanic drum made from Red Deer rawhide and is a really special drum in that it was birthed at the time of the lunar eclipse and January 2020. Our distant ancestors called this moon the Wolf Moon, going back to a time when haunting howl of the wolf would travel through the frost laden valleys piercing the stillness of winter. 

This drum is made from Red Deer hide and the hoop is English Ash waxed with bees wax from rescued bees. We have painted a wolf motif inside the hoop and we have set a Carnelian crystal in the handle. The tension ring is wrapped in a suede and the fluffy fabric finishes off the handle so that it is really comfortable to hold.

When we encounter the Red Deer in the wild, our breath catches and we are transfixed by their graceful features and delicate movements. About the making of this drum

We make our drums from our home on the edge of the West Pennine Moors in the northwest of England. We create the drums in sacred space each drum is birthed through ceremony, over mugwort incense.

We also take great care in the sourcing of our materials. The Red Deer hide used to make this drum is from Scotland and the timber for the Ash hoop is sourced from UK ash and is crafted by a local carpenter in Wigan. The wood has a layer of bees wax to bring out it’ natural grain. The wax is from bees which have been rescued.
