This is a 16-inch shamanic drum made from Reindeer Deer rawhide and is a really special drum as it was birthed at the time of the Grain Full Moon and the Celtic festival of the first harvest, Lammas or Lughnasadh. Grain Moon is the English name given for the August full moon and we have painted a corn motif on the inside of the wooden hoop.
Reindeer has the energy of perseverance and surefootedness and show us that great things are possible in our lives. They are calm and gentle and in keeping with this energy, we have set a green aventurine crystal in the centre of the handle. Green aventurine is the stone of opportunity. The hoop is English Ash waxed with beeswax from rescued bees, and the tension ring is wrapped in suede with fluffy fabric finishing off the handle so that it is really comfortable to hold.
The energy of Green Aventurine
This is the stone of opportunity, manifesting prosperity and wealth and ties in perfectly with the Lammas energies of harvest. It aids in moving forward with confidence into new situations and helps us take everything in our stride.

The energy of Reindeer
The Reindeer has an incredible ability to preserve in difficult environments, and across great distances too, some travelling as far as 3000 miles in one season. Their energy teaches us that great things are possible in our lives. In their surefootedness they can support us to utilize our internal gifts so that we can be as equally sure-footed in any situation, enabling us to easily walk through any challenges which may come our way as we walk our path to realize our dreams.
About the making of this drum
We make our drums from our home on the edge of the West Pennine Moors in the northwest of England. We create the drums in sacred space each drum is birthed through ceremony, over mugwort incense.
We also take great care in the sourcing of our materials. The Red Deer hide used to make this drum is from Scotland and the timber for the Ash hoop is sourced from UK ash and is crafted by a local carpenter in Wigan. The wood has a layer of beeswax to bring out its natural grain. The wax is from bees which have been rescued.
