16″ ‘Growing Full Moon’ Reindeer Shamanic Drum with Moss Agate crystal handle

This 16″ Shamanic Drum is made from Reindeer hide. We birthed this Special Edition drum at the time of the April Full Moon which was a lunar eclipse. Our Celtic Ancestors called this moon the Growing Moon and to hold this energy we have painted the Celtic Triskele motif on the inside of the hoop to represent constant motion and a perpetual state of growth.

Close to the Spring Equinox, Spring is coming into full swing, and these limited edition drums will hold the energy of growth and abundance. The hoop is English Ash waxed with beeswax from rescued bees, and we have set a Moss Agate crystal in the handle for inner vision & perseverance. The tension ring is wrapped in a suede and the fluffy fabric finishes off the handle so that it is really comfortable to hold.

The 14″ drums are the most portable and tend to have a higher pitch than the larger ones. Our 16″ is often seen as a great compromise between transportability and depth of voice. The larger 18″ drum is a little heavier but usually has a deeper voice. However each drum is very much an individual and can vary from what is expected.

About the making of this drum

We make our drums from our home on the edge of the West Pennine Moors in the northwest of England. We create the drums in sacred space each drum is birthed through ceremony, over mugwort incense.

We also take great care in the sourcing of our materials. Our Red Deer hides come from Scotland and our Reindeer hides come from Finland. The timber for the Ash hoop is sourced from UK ash and is crafted by a local carpenter in Wigan. The wood has a layer of beeswax to bring out its natural grain. The wax is from bees which have been rescued.
