This is a 14-inch shamanic drum made from Reindeer rawhide and is a really special drum as it was birthed at the time of the ‘Mead’ Full Moon. Our Medieval English Ancestors called the Full Moon in July the Mead Moon. With mead being made from honey, we worked with the energy of Bee whilst birthing this drum and have painted a bee motif on the inside of the wooden hoop.
Bee is one of natures ultimate creators and this drum was made during the time when the creative powers of nature are strong. We have set a Moonstone crystal in the handle. The hoop is English Ash waxed with beeswax from rescued bees, and the tension ring is wrapped in suede with fluffy fabric finishing off the handle so that it is really comfortable to hold.
The energy of moonstone
As ancient as the moon herself, Moonstone holds the power of mystery, and gives us a touchable connection to the magic of the moon. This stone holds the energy of intuition and balance, and since ancient times has been an amulet of protection for travellers, a channel for prophecy and a path to understanding. Our ties to the moon are strong as it governs the tides and rhythms of the Earth with its waxing and waning, and with this influences our emotions, behaviours and spiritual growth. Moonstone calms and relieves stress while releasing love of all kinds.
The energy of Reindeer
The Reindeer has an incredible ability to preserve in difficult environments, and across great distances too, some travelling as far as 3000 miles in one season. Their energy teaches us that great things are possible in our lives. In their surefootedness they can support us to utilize our internal gifts so that we can be as equally sure-footed in any situation, enabling us to easily walk through any challenges which may come our way as we walk our path to realize our dreams.

Guidance for choosing your drum
The 14″ drums are the most portable and tend to have a higher pitch than the larger ones. Our 16″ is often seen as a great compromise between transportability and depth of voice. The larger 18″ drum is a little heavier but usually has a deeper voice. However, each drum is very much an individual and can vary from what is expected.
Your drum beater
Your suede drum beater is included within the price.

About the making of this drum
We make our drums from our home in the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Natural Beauty on the Lancashire coast, northwest England. We create the drums in sacred space and awakening them in ceremony over incense.
We also take great care in the sourcing of our materials. The Red Deer hides used to make our drums come from Scotland and the Reindeer hides come from Finland. The timber for the Ash hoop is sourced from UK ash and is crafted by a local carpenter in Wigan. The wood has a layer of beeswax to bring out its natural grain. The wax is from bees which have been rescued.
